My name is rubic, or you can call me Adam.
This website is rubic.dev, home to all the projects and parts I've worked on over the years.
I'm a game designer, a programmer, and an artist. I like making useful tools and clever games!
I graduated summa cum laude from San Jose State University with a BS in Software Engineering and a minor in Mathematics.
I have a persistent interest in mastering many different disciplines, a passion which is greatly motivated by wanting to work in video game development.
All of my recent games have been made in Unity, with the exception of web projects.
A Unity game completed for the Lv. 99 Game Jam 2023. I worked with four others as the team manager, lead designer and programmer. We placed #8 out of 330 entries.
A Godot game completed for Brackeys Jam 2022.2. I worked with four others, handling gameplay programming and game design. We placed in the top 1.5% of 1,100 entries and earned top 10 in both Graphics and Audio.
Ghost King's Cross
A Unity game completed for Brackeys Jam 2021.2. I worked with four artists and a musician, again being responsible for programming and directing the project. We placed in the top 3% of 1,700 entries.
A Unity game completed for Brackeys Jam 2020.2. I worked with three others, handling programming and project management. We placed in the top 2% of 1,800 entries.
I started my very first programming project in 2012 with a small platformer video game written in C.
I started making short chiptune tracks in "tracker" music software in 2013.
All of my recent work has been done in Renoise. I also have some experience with modern DAWs like FL Studio and Ableton Live.
The sound player here is a work in progress!
I've done graphic design work for my university and for many personal projects.
The online Figma editor has been my go-to for designing web interfaces, program layouts, and graphics for print. I've used Illustrator and Inkscape for other vector work, as well as Paint.NET for standard raster image editing.
I've been drawing since 2014. I've done some commissioned work in the past, but for the most part, digital art is just a prominent hobby of mine.
I use Paint Tool SAI and Clip Studio Paint for digital drawings and paintings, and I've used Photoshop and Krita for touch ups and animation work.
